बयान
Bayaan / बयान is a statement, declaration, description, assertion.
Bayan / बयाँ is description, narration, oration, recitation.
It is through the narration and revealing of our own stories, secrets and problems that we experience joy, or at least find some relief. It so happens that when we declare and describe our true selves only then do we begin to understand ourselves.
Bayaan is an act of recitation, declaration, or describing our dil-ke-haal (conditions of our heart).
If you look at traditional paintings deeply, intently, even idly, you discover details and patterns that repeat to form larger forms. The forms come together to narrate a story.
No two viewings of a painting are ever the same. This is even more pronounced in traditional art as it reveals something new every time- be it a new detail in the story, a pattern, a motif or even a line. These works of art are meant to be revisited time and again, for they may reveal a part of yourself.
It offers a dialogue in solitude. A painting converses with you, and through this dialogue, you both reveal and discover. A work of art is an eternal bayaan of the artists’ story, evolving through time, space and form, changing its meaning as it goes on.
