Bhawani Shankar Sharma

Kanreki or when life starts again at 60! Often men rope with the restless thought of retirement. Not B.S. Sharma who at the age of 60 embraced the famous Japanese custom and renewed his passion for painting which he had a brief sojourn from due to unstable market space and ivory ban in the 80s. Born in 1963, as a twelve-year-old, he began learning the art of the Pichwai from his uncle Shree Reva Shankar and his father. He began his career as an artist in 1972 when as a school-going child, he sold his first work. After his retirement from a government job and brief distance from art, he decided to pick the brush again and venture back into the world of Pichwai where only a handful of artists have mastery. Bhavani Shankar Sharma being one of them, renewed his life’s passion and now, has 35 years of experience in creating Pichwai paintings. His paintings are part of the collection of various prestigious auction houses and collectors.
